 Deaf Unit Minimize

Students who are deaf or hearing impaired are given access to secondary education via enrolment through Kelston Deaf Education Centre into the special unit at Kelston Boys High School.  The unit enables deaf pupils to participate fully in the academic, social and sporting life of the school through specialised staff support as they are mainstreamed with regular classes.

All of the staff use NZSL (New Zealand Sign Language) and support students in assemblies and extra curricular activites.

The Deaf Unit caters for students from outside the Auckland area.  These students are housed at the Residential village at KDEC.

Any enquiries should be made to Margaret Carr at Kelston Deaf Education Centre
