Please read this document carefully before signing the Internet and Email Access Agreement overleaf. Retain this document and return signed agreement only.
Internet and Email access are available to students at Kelston Boys High School, providing they sign the Internet and Email Access - Acceptable Use Agreement agreeing to abide by the rules below
- Students will refrain from accessing any web pages images, computer files, newsgroups, chat groups, or other materials accessible with the Internet or the school network that would be considered offensive in the judgement of the School.
- Students will be courteous and use appropriate language in communication via the Internet. They will refrain from using obscene, harassing or abusive language and will report any cases of such usage against them to their teacher, librarian or the school administration.
- Students will accept responsibility in regard to copyright protected material. Therefore they will not download and redistribute software, games, music, graphics, videos or text unless authorised to do so by the copyright owner (usually the person or organisation that created the material)
- Students understand that plagiarism (presenting someone else's work as their own) is unacceptable. Therefore they will list any downloaded material used in the preparation of assignments in a bibliography and clearly indicate where the material has been quoted from another source.
- Students will not reveal personal information including names, addresses, credit card details and telephone numbers including their own via the Internet or School network unless instructed to do so by the School.
- Students understand that Email is not guaranteed to be private. All mail is accessible by School ICT staff.
- Students recognise that security on the School computer system is a high priority. Students shall not intentionally seek information on, obtain copies of, or modify files, other data or passwords belonging to other users, or misrepresent other users on the network.
- Students will not in any way vandalise the School Computer System. Vandalism is defined as any malicious attempt to harm, modify, or destroy computer hardware, data of another user, Internet, or any other networks that are connected to the World Wide Web. This includes, but is not limited to, the uploading or creation of computer viruses.
- Students will follow the computer room rules as stated in the student homework diary.
The signature on the Internet and Email Access- Acceptable Use Agreement indicate that each party who has signed the agreement has read these rules and understands their significance.
