HOUSE SYSTEM & WHANAU GROUPS
The House System was instigated in 2003 with the purpose of enhancing the following key areas:
- Leadership and Mentoring Opportunities
- Improved School Spirit
- Enhancing the Tradition & History of the School
The students are placed in a House and stay in that House throughout their time at the school. Students from the same family are placed in the same House to promote a feeling of belonging.
There are 8 Whanau Groups at each year level from Year 9 - Year 13. Students at each year level are randomly selected for each House. Students meet each day with their Whanau Group Teacher to discuss areas relating to their particular Year Level, such as attendance, academic expectations, school values and pastoral needs. They remain with the same students and Whanau Group Teacher during their years at Kelston Boys High School.
