At Kelston Boys High School we maintain a reputation in sporting codes that is ‘second to none’ in New Zealand Secondary School sport. We continue to win titles across many sports codes at the provincial and national level.

Our proud sporting history is part of our tradition; who we are and who we represent in our community. Our values and our hard work are reflected in our team and individual sports and we encourage all students to take the opportunity to represent their school.

The school recognises the inherent value in having a strong, vibrant and sustainable sporting programme for all students from Year 9-13. The spin-off to a rigorous disciplined academic culture is a result of disciplined attitudes secured on the playing fields, courts or swimming pool, it is perhaps the greatest legacy of a sporting programme.

‘Busy boys are good boys’ - boys who play sport have a community of mates who sustain them through the tough times. They develop team skills and leadership qualities, and due to the healthy body messages promoted through playing sport, they make better lifestyle choices.

We have a diverse range of sport from the traditional, Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Soccer, Volleyball, Rugby and Rugby League through to Lawn Bowls, Kilikiti and Theatre Sports. Our school will provide structure and organisation for coaching in our sporting programme, but we also rely on the many degrees of expertise that our parents and the old boy’s community display through managing teams.

“Providing sporting excellence for over 50 years”
