We were saddened to hear of the passing of old boy Anthony Ian (Tony) Gibbs on June 14. Tony was inducted into the KBHS Distinguished Alumni in 2018 for services to Business.

Born in London he moved to NZ only to run away to sea at age 15, getting a job on a ship, and heading back to England. He travelled the world eventually settling back in New Zealand.

Tony was one of the most colourful and prominent business leaders during the corporate raids and takeover era.

He was made a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2009 New Year Honours for his services to business.

Our love, thoughts and prayers go to his family in this sad time.
