Greetings
I am honoured to be writing to you as the Acting Principal of Kelston Boys’ High School. I have previously been the Deputy Principal at this school, thus returning in this role is both a privilege and responsibility that I do not take lightly.
I have been asked to serve as the Principal for the next 2 terms while the School Board undertakes the process of appointing a permanent leader. During this time my absolute commitment is to ensure stability, continuity and a strong focus on what matters most – our boys.
Kelston has a proud history built on strong co-curricular traditions and a rich multi-cultural heritage that reflects the strength of West Auckland itself. Our community gives the school its heart, its resilience and its unique character. It is a place where diversity is not only present but valued and celebrated
As we look ahead to 2026 I see a year full of promise and opportunity, Kelston Boys’ High School is more than a place of academic learning – it is a place where young men develop a sense of belonging, pride and connections. A place where they can discover who they are, where they come from, who they can become and what part they choose to play in the time they have at school and beyond.
My door is always open, everything we do will be guided by one simple principle “putting our boys at the heart of every decision”. I believe strongly in partnership with whānau and the wider community and I welcome your voices, your aspirations and your hopes for the school.
I am very much looking forward to working with our students, our dedicated staff and you – the families and communities who support them every day. Together, I am confident, we can continue to build on the proud legacy of Kelston Boys while shaping an exciting future.
Steve Cole
Acting Principal
