We are excited to announce that Scotty Keith will be the Head Coach of the Kelston Boys' High School 1st XV Rugby team for the 2025 season!

A proud member of the Kelston Boys' Rugby whānau for the past six years, Scotty has dedicated himself to the growth and success of our rugby programme. Scotty was an integral part of the KBHS 1st XV management in 2024 as the Assistant Coach when the team was crowned the Auckland 1A winners, followed by the Blues Cup Championship, the National Top 4 finals and to end a successful season, being crowned The World Secondary Schools Rugby Champions over in Abu Dhabi.

2025 will be Scotty's third season coaching the 1st XV; two years as the Head Coach and one as the Asst Coach. He also head coached our 2nd XV team in 2022 which was crowned the Auckland Secondary Schools 2nd XV Rugby Champions. With experience in both teams, this has provided him with a well-rounded perspective on the challenges and rewards of coaching at all levels.

Scotty is not only a coach but also a father who has witnessed two of his own boys' progress through the programme, further deepening his connection to our team and our values. Although not a Kelston Old Boy himself, Scotty's upbringing in Wellington and his education at Rongotai College have given him a profound understanding of the Kelston community, its culture, and the aspirations for our students.

With a wealth of experience as both a player and coach, Scotty’s rugby career has taken him across the globe, including professional stints in France and semi-professional experience in Spain. These years of experience were some of the most rewarding of his life, where he had the opportunity to live his passion for rugby while competing at a high level. This experience has shaped his coaching philosophy and his understanding of the commitment required to reach the top of the game.

Scotty’s vision for the 1st XV is not only about developing exceptional rugby players but also about preparing them for the demands of professional sport. Under Scotty's guidance, we are confident that our 1st XV will continue to build on the legacy of excellence that Kelston Boys' is known for. With a focus on skill development, discipline, and teamwork, we are excited to see how the team will grow under his coaching.
