Reader/Writers
We are looking for adults who can support students during their end-of year exams between the dates of November the 4th to November the 28th. You should be able to speak clearly and be able to write and type clearly. You will find more detail here Assessment and exam assistants (writers, typists and readers) - NZQA.

Examination Centre Officer
Kelston Boys’ High School is looking for people to work as Examination Centre Officers during the 2025 NCEA and NZ Scholarship examinations at our school. The Examination Centre Officer role is critical to the smooth running of the examinations.

About the role
Examination Centre Officers assist with the preparation of rooms, supervise students during exams and manage candidates outside the examination room. For 2025, the examination period runs from 4th November to 28th November 2025 and examinations take place on weekdays. Ideally, you would be available for the full period.
Skills and experience
As an Examination Centre Officer, you must be able to demonstrate the following capabilities and skills:
• Proven willingness to navigate and engage with online-based systems and support models
• Reliable access to the internet, a smart phone, laptop, or tablet
• Commitment to upholding the NZQA code of conduct and act in a way that is fair, equitable and promotes a positive experience for learners
• Demonstrated ability to:
◦ act, communicate and support learners in line with instructions given by an Exam Centre Manager and the approved NZQA policies and processes
◦ communicate clearly and effectively with different groups of people
◦ work in a way that is both safe and responsible and does not compromise the health and safety of self or others in the workplace
◦ act in accordance with privacy and security policies and procedures when managing both digital and paper-based information
Having previous experience of supervising examinations would be an advantage, but full training and support will be provided to successful applicants.
As these positions are based in a school setting and have direct contact with students, successful applicants will be subject to a police check.
