Kelston Boys is seeking a curriculum leader who inspires growth through a relational and responsive framework. You will be a curriculum area specialist iand have experience in developing programmes and pathways that are engaging and meaningful. You will work collaboratively with a team of curriculum leaders to design and facilitate professional learning in the faculty and across the school. Having an affinity for teaching young men and being committed to biculturalism are essential attributes. An understanding of NCEA and the changes in curriculum essential. Having high expectations of self and others, and a great sense of humour is an advantage. Participation in the school's wider co-curricular programme is expected.

SAMOAN  TEACHER with supporting subject/s

Full-time / Permanent

With the growth of our Gagana Samoa programme, we are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate educator to continue building it. You must have an affinity for Boys' education with strengths in building and creating positive relationships with both tamaiti aoga/akonga (students) and aiga/whanau (families) through tū ma aga fa’asamoa (Samoan way/context).  You thrive in a collaborative environment and are driven by attaining excellence for all.

This role encompasses the teaching of Gagana Samoa along with a subject of your expertise. Please state supporting subject. Participating in the school's wide extra-curricular programme is an expectation.

Untrained candidates with expertise and fluency in Gagana Samoa may be considered and will be expected to undertake teacher training through the school.

Start date: Term 1, 2025.

COUNSELLOR

Our school has a vision of "Inspiring growth through Wisdom and Honour". To support this, we are seeking a registered counsellor who is a current member of NZAC with at least 3-5 years experience working with Māori and Pasifika youth in the secondary school context. The ideal candidate can demonstrate knowledge and skill in trauma informed approaches and has a commitment to working within the whānau context of the young person where possible. 

In order to best serve our community and uphold our kura's values the applicant will be able to demonstrate their commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the bicultural foundations of Aotearoa New Zealand and will be able to respect and work within appropriate cultural tikanga to ensure the safety of the young person involved.

Responsibilities may include but will not be limited to:

  • Counselling for students to enhance mental health and wellness
  • Coordinate with our Learning Support Coordinator to design specific ILP that enhances student success.
  • Provide PLD and professional supervision where appropriate to our Pastoral team
  • Support for our ākonga to develop their emotional literacy and resilience to difficulty
  • Lead and share expertise in good pastoral practice for staff
  • Promote awareness of and respect for diversity within our community
  • Advocate for student wellbeing within the wider school context
  • Work with whānau where appropriate to connect them with agency support
